Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb, was the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of human rights, especially for the oppressed classes. His lifelong mission was to annihilate caste and build a society based on liberty, equality, and fraternity. Born into a Dalit family, Dr. Ambedkar faced social exclusion yet rose to become one of the greatest intellectuals and reformers of the 20th century. His relentless pursuit of justice led to landmark moments like the Mahad Satyagraha and Kalaram Temple Entry, where he challenged the very roots of caste discrimination. As India’s first Law Minister, he played a key role in ensuring that the Constitution guaranteed fundamental rights and protections for all citizens, especially the most vulnerable. His deep belief in education as a tool for liberation laid the foundation for modern social justice movements. In 1956, he embraced Buddhism as an act of protest against caste oppression, initiating the Dalit Buddhist Movement.
